Pattaya draw released

The draw for the PTT Pattaya Open in Pattaya, Thailand has been released and Sabine is seeded #2 and will play Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan in the 1st round, they have never played before.  The 1st seed Sabine can meet is #7 seed Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan in the quarters.

This is Sabine's 1st appearance here and this tournament is played on hardcourts and is an International $220K event.

Sabine's Australian Open dream is over as she is out in the 2nd round.  Sabine lost 6-2 4-6 4-6 to Alberta Brianti of Italy in 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Sabine is also out of the doubles with Aravane Rezai of France, they lost 3-6 2-6 to Nathalie Grandin of South Africa and Melinda Czink of Hungary.

Sabine won her 1st round match at the Australian Open in Melbourne as she defeated Petra Martic of Croatia 6-1 6-4 in 1 hour and 8 minutes.

In the 2nd round to be played on Thursday, Sabine will play Alberta Brianti of Italy, they have never played before.

Australian Open draw released

The draw for the 1st Grand Slam of the year at the Australian Open has been released and Sabine is seeded 21 and will play Petra Martic of Croatia in the 1st round.  They have played once before in a challenger in 2007 and Sabine won in straight sets.  This match will be played on Monday or Tuesday.  The 1st seed Sabine can meet is #13 seed Samantha Stosur of Australia in the 3rd round.

Sabine is out of the Medibank International in the 1st round after she lost in a very tight match to #6 seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.  Sabine lost 6-3 2-6 5-7.

Sabine's next tournament will be the Australian Open which begins next Monday.

The draw for the Medibank International in Sydney, Australia is out and Sabine will play #6 seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the 1st round on Monday.  They have played once before, in Memphis in 2009 and Azarenka won in 3 very tough sets.

Germany lose to Kazakhstan in final Hopman Cup match

Germany lost to Kazakhstan in their final Hopman Cup match.  Sabine lost 4-6 6-7 to Yaroslava Shvedova in the 1st match and then Andrey Golubev defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-2 6-1.  The mixed doubles wasn't played.

Even though Germany lost all of their ties, Sabine still had a good tournament by scoring 2 singles wins (Elena Dementieva and Laura Robson).

Germany are out of the Hopman Cup after the lost 1-2 to Great Britain but Sabine won her singles match against Laura Robson 7-6 6-3 but Philipp Kohlschreiber 4-6 1-6 to Andy Murray.  The tie was decided by the mixed doubles which Germany lost
3-6 2-6.

Germany will play 1 more tie against Kazakhstan (Yaroslava Shvedova and Andrey Golubev) on Thursday.

Sabine beats Dementieva in Hopman Cup

Sabine scored her first win of 2010 at the Hopman Cup as she defeated world #5 Elena Dementieva of Russia 6-4 6-1 but Germany went on to lose the next 2 matches to lose the tie 1-2.

Philipp Kohlschreiber lost 3-6 7-6 3-6 to Igor Andreev and Sabine and Kohlschreiber lost 4-6 6-7 to Dementieva and Andreev. 

Germany next play Great Britain on 6th January.

Hopman Cup News

Sabine's first tournament of 2010 at the Hopman Cup in Australia will get underway on Monday.  Sabine alongside Philipp Kohlschreiber will play their first tie against Russia (Elena Dementieva and Igor Andreev).  The tie will begin at 10.00 local time and there will be 2 singles matches and a mixed doubles match, the team who wins 2 matches will win the tie.

Germany will play 2 more ties in their group against Great Britain (Laura Robson and Andy Murray) on 6th January and Kazhakstan (Yaroslava Shvedova and Andrey Golubev) on January 8th.
